Paul Mulville, Social Democrats councillor for the Rush Lusk ward, has welcomed the decision by the National Transport Authority to amend the schedule for the new 33s school bus so that the Burrow, Portrane, will be serviced by the route.<\/p>\n
Cllr Mulville stated:<\/p>\n
\u201cParents with school-going kids in the Burrow had expressed their concerns to me\u00a0that the new\u00a033S\u00a0school bus service for the Donabate\/Portrane area left them out.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NTA had provisionally approved the new\u00a033s\u00a0service, whereby Dublin Bus are subcontracting out to Go-Ahead.\u00a0However, the provisional\u00a033s\u00a0timetable stated that this school bus service would not come down the Burrow.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s at least a 40 minute walk from the end of the Burrow, where are lot of young families live, to the bus stop at Seaview Park.\u00a0\u00a0It would have been too much for young schoolchildren to undergo this trek every morning, and after school, especially when carrying heavy schoolbooks.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe vast majority of the regular 33b Go-Ahead bus services call to the Burrow, Portrane, down as far as the bus turning circle at the junction of the Burrow Road and Marsh Lane (Smarts Lane), so it would have made no sense for the 33s to miss us out.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs such, I am very glad to have received confirmation today from the NTA that, with effect from Wednesday, September 16, Route 33s will be updated and extended to serve the Burrow.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would highlight again the strong demand for bus services in the Burrow, as underlined by the very high number of submissions made by residents during the recent Bus Connects public consultation.\u00a0\u00a0I understand that the NTA will publish their Bus Connects Network Review plans at the end of September\/start of October and I hope that following the strong demands put forward by our community, that all 33b bus services will once again come down the Burrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
