{"id":1842,"date":"2022-07-04T13:51:06","date_gmt":"2022-07-04T12:51:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.socialdemocrats.ie\/cost-of-disability-email-template\/"},"modified":"2022-07-04T13:51:06","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T12:51:06","slug":"cost-of-disability-email-template","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.socialdemocrats.ie\/ga\/cost-of-disability-email-template\/","title":{"rendered":"Cost Of Disability email template"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This <strong>Wednesday, 6th July, 2022<\/strong>, the Social Democrats are using their limited \u2018Private Members\u2019 D\u00e1il time to put forward a motion for urgent action on disability.<\/p>\n<p>The sheer scale of inequality and injustice faced by disabled people, and families of children with special needs and disabilities, is disgraceful.\u00a0\u00a0A lack of school places, under-staffed HSE teams, obstacles to employment, and insufficient public housing and transport, are all symptoms of a much larger issue.<\/p>\n<p>The only way the Government will act is if there is enough public pressure.<\/p>\n<p>We need your help in drawing attention to the Social Democrats\u2019 Motion on the <strong>#CostOfDisability<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oireachtas.ie\/en\/members\/\">here<\/a> to find contact information for the TDs and Senators in your area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Use this sample letter template to contact them about our motion:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dear xxx,<\/p>\n<p>I am writing to ask you to support the Social Democrats\u2019 Motion on the Cost of Disability this Wednesday in the D\u00e1il.<\/p>\n<p>It is calling for concrete actions to assist disabled people and families of children with a disability.<\/p>\n<p>These include a new Cost of Disability payment in Budget 2023 of at least \u20ac20 per week as a first step to addressing the significant additional costs of having a disability; increasing the Disability Allowance by at least \u20ac15 per week; filling the 732 vacant posts for therapists providing services for children with disabilities; and guaranteeing an appropriate school place for every child with a disability.<\/p>\n<p>These actions and more are necessary to provide the services and support that people with disabilities are entitled to.<\/p>\n<p>I am strongly in favour of this Motion and I hope you will support it.<br \/>\nRegards,<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;-<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This Wednesday, 6th July, 2022, the Social Democrats are using their limited \u2018Private Members\u2019 D\u00e1il time to put forward a motion for urgent action on disability.
