The Parliamentary Assistant will work closely with the Secretarial Assistant as well as other members of the party, to provide an exemplary service to Gary\u2019s constituents and to support Gary\u2019s parliamentary work.<\/p>\n<p>The potential candidate would ideally have previous experience within a relevant policy\/research\/communications role. The role will primarily be based between Leinster House and the constituency office in Dublin 7, with some remote working options available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u25cf Being the primary support on all legislative, political, and administrative matters.<br \/>\n\u25cf Regularly liaising with the media, State agencies, local government, and community organisations.<br \/>\n\u25cf Researching legislative and policy issues as required.<br \/>\n\u25cf Analysing, evaluating, and interpreting data to ensure Gary is accurately informed on key issues.<br \/>\n\u25cf Drafting speeches on legislation, press releases, parliamentary questions etc.<br \/>\n\u25cf Managing Gary\u2019s social media channels, developing and updating relevant content and maintaining online engagement.<br \/>\n\u25cf Efficiently handling constituency queries via different channels (e-mail, phone, letter, social media) with the support of the Secretarial Assistant.<br \/>\n\u25cf Developing literature on issues of both national and local importance.<br \/>\n\u25cf Planning and organising constituency events.<br \/>\n\u25cf Any other ad hoc duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Person Specification:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u25cf A relevant third-level qualification.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25cf Excellent verbal and written communication skills.<br \/>\n<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u25cf Experience with conducting research.<br \/>\n\u25cf Excellent ICT skills with proficiency in managing websites and social media.<br \/>\n\u25cf Knowledge and understanding of the Irish political system, the workings of political parties and the Irish electoral system.<br \/>\n\u25cf An alignment with, and commitment to, the mission and values of the Social Democrats.<br \/>\n\u25cf An understanding of public policy and legislation.<br \/>\n\u25cf An independent and creative thinker.<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to work well both independently and within a team.<br \/>\n\u25cf Comfortable working within tight deadlines, and in a changing environment.<br \/>\n\u25cf Flexibility with working hours as constituency business frequently involves evening and weekend events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary:<\/strong> \u20ac41,092 \u2013 \u20ac52,200 (dependent on experience).<br \/>\nPay scales are set out by the Houses of Oireachtas, not the individual TD.
