Justin Sinnott has been announced as the Social Democrats\u2019 new councillor on South Dublin County Council.<\/p>\n
At a meeting of the council this week, Justin was co-opted to the seat vacated by Carly Bailey, who is stepping back from representative politics but will remain working with the Social Democrats.<\/p>\n
Speaking after the meeting, Justin said:<\/p>\n
\u201cI am honoured to represent the Social Democrats on South Dublin County Council at such an exciting time for the party under Holly Cairns\u2019 new leadership.<\/p>\n
\u201cI share the party\u2019s vision for progressive policies in areas like health, housing, public services and the environment. These issues will be key priorities for me as I begin my new role as a Social Democrats councillor for the Rathfarnham-Templeogue local electoral area.\u201d<\/p>\n
Welcoming Justin\u2019s co-option, Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns said:<\/p>\n
\u201cI am delighted to introduce Justin as our party\u2019s newest councillor and have no doubt that he will continue the great work carried out by Carly Bailey, who has been an exceptional public representative for her community since 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cCarly has always had a huge passion for equality and social justice and will continue to fight for change along with her colleagues in the Social Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n
Justin Sinnott has over 20 years\u2019 experience working in further and higher education. He currently works with Solas, where he is manager in the Transformation Project Management Office.<\/p>\n
Previously, Justin was chairperson of Blackrock Institute of Further Education; a board member of the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board; as well as a member of the boards of Dun Laoghaire Further Education Institute, Blackrock Further Education Institute and St Finian\u2019s Community College in Swords.<\/p>\n
He previously served as an Independent councillor for the Swords local electoral area between 2014 and 2019.<\/p>\n
