“These by-elections are an important opportunity for voters to demonstrate to Fine Gael and Fianna Fail who support them in government that their terrible failures are no longer acceptable.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Co-leaders of the Social Democrats, R\u00f3is\u00edn Shortall TD and Catherine Murphy TD, welcomed the opportunity provided by the by-elections to hold the Government to account.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese by-elections are an important opportunity for voters to demonstrate to Fine Gael and Fianna Fail who support them in government that their terrible failures are no longer acceptable.<\/p>\n

We are putting forward three strong candidates in the By-Elections on Nov 29th \u2013 Tracey Carey in Dublin Fingal, Sin\u00e9ad Halpin in Cork North Central and Anne-Marie McNally in Dublin Mid-West.<\/p>\n

On the doors, they keep getting asked by voters, \u2018Is this as good as it gets?\u2019. On November 29th, voters will have the opportunity to say to this Government that we can and must do better.”<\/p>\n

Tracey Carey, Dublin Fingal<\/strong>, said \u201cThe human cost in ordinary people\u2019s lives of unaffordable housing, homelessness, more than one million people on healthcare waiting lists and an ever-increasing cost of living is unacceptable. Now is the time to say to this Government that enough is enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cork North Central candidate Sin\u00e9ad Halpin<\/strong>, said \u201cFrom the Children\u2019s Hospital to the National Broadband Plan, we\u2019ve seen that this Government just cannot deliver. The national plans they\u2019ve come up with are hopelessly inadequate to meet ordinary people\u2019s needs, and don\u2019t pay anything like the urgent attention needed to the climate emergency we\u2019re facing. We must change course to ensure our future and that of our children is safe and secure.<\/p>\n

Anne-Marie McNally, the Dublin Mid-West candidate<\/strong> for the Social Democrats said \u201cWe cannot continue, as this Fine Gael Government constantly do, to rely on the market to solve the challenges in health, in housing, in transport, in childcare and many other areas. It is time to prioritise investment in strong public services that serve everyone. This is the way to drive equality, promote sustainability, reduce costs for businesses and families, and provide a fair chance for everyone.
\nOn November 29th voters have a chance to say we can and we will do better that this.\u201d<\/p>\n
