Not looking at all good on tallies, happy to concede defeat! Very hopeful that at least 2 of the others are in with a shout. Massive congratulations to the Green Party, making gains everywhere.

Thanks to every one who said nice things all the way along. It was always a long shot.

Limericks loss, a huge one. Kieran Walsh I am absolutely gutted for you, and for the city. Thank you for all you have done already for the people of Limerick, I'm so sad that you weren't rewarded today with the seat you so thoroughly deserve.

Hard luck Kieran, but serious congratulations on a great campaign!

πŸ’• sorry it hasn’t gone the way you wanted. You did yourself proud undoubtedly. πŸ’•

Ah no - are you serious Kieran? So disappointing. You're very gracious in defeat - I'm raging for you, though. At least it's great for the Greens, but still.

So disappointing, I was SD & Greens all the way. Very disappointed for ye πŸ’œ

Very disappointed for you and Limerick.

So absolutely gutted for you Kieran πŸ’œ you ran a great, positive campaign πŸ‘πŸ™Œβ˜”

Kieran Walsh - Limerick City North

This is madness. I feel sad reading this. when will we ever learn?

Rents at an all time high. Spirits crushed, but we're to be 'excited' that FG are putting us in boxes

Do NOT vote for them on Friday. There is nothing ‘exciting’ about this idea. It actually terrifies me that this could form part of the Government’s response to this unprecedented housing emergency. These are modern style tenements and we’re supposed to be excited?

Every single day housing is coming up at the doors. Whether that’s someone struggling to pay or are in mortgage arrears, or 2-3 generations living together under one roof because the adult children just can’t afford to rent, buy, save. Or their children have emigrated in order to have some quality of life. Or like me and my family, they are renting but have no security of tenure, are terrified of rent increases and cannot plan for the future for themselves or their children if they have any.

The people who make up this Government and those who keep them in power will likely never experience housing instability. They will never not have the means to keep a roof over their head. This has been my reality for a decade now. I also know what needs to be done to make things better.

As a local councillor, I might not get to make the systemic change necessary to end this emergency but I would have input into local area development plans and planning. Affordable housing is our only way out of this mess. Communities are so much more than just ‘luxury’ houses or apartments and ‘exciting’ co-living schemes.

Time to send a message on Friday.
If you want change, vote for it.

It's great that Eoghan Murphy's family didn't come from the tenements of Dublin. Mine did. He's so unbelievably out of touch but because he's the minister it's not one bit funny. I'm trying very hard not to swear.

In 2018, The Social Democrats Limerick City began an investigation into the catering spend at Limerick City & Council, through the Freedom of Information Act and Parliamentary Questions. We did this as a result of reports we had gotten from members of the public raising concerns over waste.

The results are the lead story in this weeks Limerick Leader As a team, forensically analysed the information we found. With over €219,000.000 of your money being spent, here are the headlines. We will be releasing further information over the course of the weekend.

- €127,000 to Bobby Byrne's pub over an 18 month period

- Every time the council ordered coffee/tea and scones, a call out charge of €20.32 applied from Bobbys to City & County hall.

- There were over 550 of these charges in 20 months.

- Multiple occasions where refreshments ordered were valued at less than the call out charge. For example one day, the council ordered €2.75 refreshments and were subjected to a €20.32 call out charge.

- Call out charges happening twice a day

As a team, we are committed to making sure your money is spent properly and a community led local govt. If you live in Limerick or its environs, you have a real chance next Friday to change how we do local government. We are proud to have candidates like Sarah Jane & Kieran Walsh - Limerick City North who will not accept this type of malfeasance. Working alongside their colleagues Trevor McCarthy for Cappamore-Kilmallock & Elisa O'Donovan, the team intends to spend the next 5 years shining a light on how we do business as a City.

Our colleagues in Clare, Betty & Beckha Doyle will be following suit when elected.

At a time when community funding is being cut at all corners, who will you trust to make sure that your council to spend your money?

On Friday 24th May, Vote No 1 for your Social Democratscrats candidate.

We have spent the last 18 months issuing the same message -

If you want change, vote for it.

You have the opportunity on Friday the 24th May to radically alter the future of politics in Limerick City - Please take it

Doesn’t counsellor Maria Byrne own or have family involvement with Bobby Byrne’s pub/restaurant. Interesting!

You have to give the council one thing tho, they Are really good at breast feeding shovels πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Absolute greed and shameful behaviour, all need to go.......😑. Community services being chopped to the point of winding down and this is going on?? Really!!

Pity it takes election time for this action to be taken This is scandalous all expenses for any public service should be monitored So what are the social democrats going to do about all this if elected?? There also a lot of bigger fish to be fried πŸ’°πŸ’° This government spending is out of control and no body being held accountable And the tax payers as usual foot the bill 🀬

Shameful and shameless attitude to our tax system , will not be voting for greed ridden people , disgraceful .

Una Voce ... Una Duce .... Well done Maria Byrnes. Better to stand over a pothole than explain to the electorate that they should eat cake 🀣

And FG want to add an elected Mayor to the gravy train......VOTE NO.

As this is public procurement it should be subject to a tendering process based on Value for Money.

Is'nt there a coffee shop already in city hall ?

At the riverfest recently the bar in Arthur's quay was that Bobby Byrne's can anyone confirm

Live 95fm

Not picking

Senator Maria Byrne looking after her own it seems

That's a fucking scandal. That's 7000 a month on food. Unfortunately not surprised. Recently council sanctioned ground works in Carey's Rd, which I estimated would ha e cost between 30-50k. Only when it was brought to their attention that the project proposed following the ground works would most likely fail planning permission. So they were prepared to through 30k of your money down the drain until a member of the public brought it to their attention. They are very quick to tell you how to spend your money but dont dare question how they spend your money. FOI the shit out of this, was that catering contract put out to tender publically ???

No wonder their all fat and obese

For fuck sake a load of ballox going on.

A @FineGael candidate has leaflets in Knockalisheen Direct Provision centre. They were stapled to the envelope containing a resident's welfare cheque (direct provision allowance). No shame whatsoever!
