Local Election Candidate for Athy

Samantha is a mother of four and a family carer for three of her children who have disabilities.

Samantha moved to Athy with her family in the boomtime as it was the nearest affordable place to Dublin to buy a home. Finding herself living far away from relatives, Samantha has worked hard to build relationships and develop a support network within the community.

Having two sons who are autistic and a daughter with a rare genetic syndrome has meant advocating for better services has become second nature to Samantha. She founded and ran the local Together for Yes group during the successful 2018 campaign to Repeal the 8th Amendment.

Samantha grew up in the UK moving to Ireland when she was 14 years old. She has a degree in agricultural science.

Samantha believes that everyone should have equal access to employment, education, housing and healthcare. She believes that our public representatives should be representatives for all the people and not just the few that can afford to pay for them.

As much as we love @ChrisPenderKE for the reasons outlined. We have very much equal love & respect for @SKennyAthySD
@SKennyAthySD is a busy woman but she will always make time for what is important to her

Took my children to see how we vote and see my face on the ballot paper, it's been a tumultuous few months but today it came to its climax #Ivoted. I put a 1 beside my face and it felt surreal. Now it's up to you #GOTV and remember us #socdems in the #LE19 and #EE19 #VotePurple
