Social Media Officer

The Social Democrats are seeking an energetic and ambitious person to join our Communications team as a Social Media Officer.

The right person will be creative and innovative in helping us drive our social media presence, broadening our online reach and developing and monitoring online content and campaigns that promote active engagement with the Party.

Working closely with the Communications Director, the Social Media Officer will help us deliver our message across all digital platforms.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the implementation of social media strategy for the party
  • Creating a range of engaging content on a variety of social media platforms
  • Ensuring social media feeds are updated regularly
  • Driving digital engagement across all platforms
  • Supporting and monitoring online content and campaigns for the Party
  • Providing social media support for Party events

Qualifications and experience:

  • Degree or relevant experience in social media creation/digital marketing/graphic design
  • Proficient at Adobe Premiere Pro or similar video editing tools with experience working across the Adobe Creative Suite library
  • Excellent creative design skills with experience using graphic design tools such as Canva, Photoshop or similar
  • A track record of creating cohesive and engaging content on social media
  • Ability to drive engagement on social media
  • Excellent written and communication skills as well as good editorial skills
  • Ability to tailor the style of social media content for different audiences/platforms
  • Experience of using social media analytic tools

Person specification:

  • A good knowledge of Irish politics and a keen interest in current affairs
  • Passion for and commitment to social democratic politics and principles
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively to deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Team player who also has the ability to work on their own initiative

Conditions of employment

This is a full-time position that will last for the duration of the current Dáil term with a possibility for extension thereafter. The salary is circa €37,000 per annum. Some flexibility will be required in relation to working hours.

The position will be hybrid/remote based in Dublin – with three days in our Dublin 2 head office or Leinster House.
