Meet Aoife

I’m Aoife Murtagh, the Social Democrats Local Election Candidate for Glencullen-Sandyford.

I have worked professionally in the fields of mental health and disability, and I have lived in Glencullen-Sandyford since I was two years old. I was a child here, a teenager, a young adult, and now a parent.

I’ve been in the Social Democrats since 2016, working closely with our TDs on policy and being an establishing member of our local Rathdown branch.

I would love the opportunity to represent you on Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council, working for community amenities and accessibility, protecting our natural environment, and providing affordable housing.

I am running for election because I want to see the best future for this area and believe local government is key to making that happen.

Aoife’s Priorities

• Prioritise the delivery of affordable and social housing.
• Fight for better urban planning that enforces development breaches.
• Push for the timely delivery of overdue amenities, such as planned swimming pools, parks and playgrounds.
• Ensure that amenities are accessible to pedestrians, cyclists and people with disabilities.
• Advocate for more green spaces and greater rewilding of the Dublin Mountains.
