Meet Susan

I’m Susan Doyle, the Social Democrats candidate for Ireland South in the European Parliament Elections 2024.

I’m standing for election to help build a better and fairer Ireland and EU.

I am a mother of two primary school children and a Solicitor in Douglas with a practice that focuses significantly on disability rights, housing, immigration and discrimination.

As a human rights solicitor, I have spent my career fighting for better services and resources for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

On issues like disability, climate action, migrant rights and housing, the EU could be an incredible force for good. Sadly, that potential is not being realised because we do not have enough strong social democratic voices at the decision-making table.

If elected as an MEP, I will work tirelessly for the people of Ireland South; stand up to vested interests; defend the rights of vulnerable members of our community; and use every lever in my power to represent the interests of the people of Ireland South.

Ireland, and the EU, desperately need change. This election is the chance to deliver it.

I love my work and would now like to bring my expertise to the European Parliament, where I will continue to fight every day to drive positive change at EU level.

Susan’s Priorities

• Ensuring EU institutions and funding are used to tackle the housing disaster.
• Pushing for trade sanctions, and a ban on the sale of arms, on Israel.
• Supporting urgent climate action and increased resources for a fair transition for farmers and fishers.
• Putting disability rights at the heart of the EU.
• Building an inclusive and welcoming EU and Ireland, in which hate and division are rejected.
• Defending Irish neutrality from any creeping militarisation.
